Easy Stamp Art

I have been looking to buy some stencils to use for various projects around the house, and came across the Martha Stewart Stencil in Arabesque. It is a very nice quality stencil that is fairly large, but not quite large enough for walls. I also picked up some paint stamps that were in the same isle.  I decided to experiment with it and create a piece of art for above my bed.

ImageImageOur bedroom has become our least touched room.  It seems to be the place that all of our stuff accumulates, and not much advancement has happened.  We painted the walls, and that’s about it.  I decided that this rooms needed some artwork!

I purchased two 14x18in canvases and some Martha Stewart paint. I have come to the conclusion that I’m obsessed with blues and greens. I can’t even deny it anymore. So it is no surprise that I picked up blue and green paint.

I started this art piece by painting the canvas a very light blue.  I took the lightest blue shade I bought for the stencil, and combined it with some white paint to create a much lighter blue shade.  I used a foam brush to apply this all over.

Then I laid down the stencil and started stamping the paint on it, one color at a time, in an alternating pattern on the canvas. There was no rhyme or rhythm to my positioning, but I really like how it turned out!

I really enjoy these pieces and I am surprised with how big of a difference it made to our room! Our next project for in there is making a new bed frame!

It’s The Small Things

It’s funny.  I’ve been trying so many things to make my living room become cozy, from adding artwork to different pillows.  All of these things have made a difference, but somehow, it wasn’t what I was looking for! It suddenly hit me! I needed to get an area rug!  I started looking online, and was dumbfounded by the prices I was seeing! I just couldn’t justify spending $300 on a 5×7 area rug.

I was at Target doing some grocery shopping, and I somehow wandered into the rug section, which I’ve never been in before, and there she was alone on the shelf! The rug that I have been looking for! Only $79! I was all giddy like a kid in a candy store! I bought it and was so excited that i forgot all of the food I bought! The lady behind me had to run after me to give me my bag! I was that excited! I got home and didn’t even bother to put the food away before putting the rug down! And let me tell you-it looks PERFECT! It was exactly what I wanted, for the price I wanted.  I guess this goes to show that things happen when you least expect it, and that something so small, could make such a HUGE difference in a room! Let the pictures talk for themselves!

Overall, I think that this rug was the perfect addition to our living room, and that it compliments the art work and pillows so well! 🙂
