Easy Stamp Art

I have been looking to buy some stencils to use for various projects around the house, and came across the Martha Stewart Stencil in Arabesque. It is a very nice quality stencil that is fairly large, but not quite large enough for walls. I also picked up some paint stamps that were in the same isle.  I decided to experiment with it and create a piece of art for above my bed.

I purchased two 14x18in canvases and some Martha Stewart paint. I have come to the conclusion that I’m obsessed with blues and greens. I can’t even deny it anymore. So it is no surprise that I picked up blue and green paint.

I started this art piece by painting the canvas a very light blue.  I took the lightest blue shade I bought for the stencil, and combined it with some white paint to create a much lighter blue shade.  I used a foam brush to apply this all over.

Then I laid down the stencil and started stamping the paint on it, one color at a time, in an alternating pattern on the canvas. There was no rhyme or rhythm to my positioning, but I really like how it turned out!

I really enjoy these pieces and I am surprised with how big of a difference it made to our room! Our next project for in there is making a new bed frame!
